June 13, 2007: Seagate has just launched a new range of portable storage devices that feature integrated content management software and a sleek, compact design and will suit a variety of photographic applications.
The Seagate FreeAgent Go makes a user’s personal desktop environment, including internet favourites, settings and passwords, email and instant messaging, accessible from any PC. Files can be synchronised from PCs at the home or office and worked on at school, the library or an internet cafe. All private information is saved on the FreeAgent drive not on the host computer, while file encryption is provided for additional data security. The FreeAgent Go is priced at $159 for 80GB, $199 for 120GB and $220 for 160GB.
The Seagate FreeAgent Pro includes a suite of software tools that allows users to automatically synchronise content to a number of other devices. It also comes with Seagate Internet Drive, a private online storage account where files can be shared with family or workmates. Prices for the FreeAgent Pro range from $299 (320GB), $399 (500 GB) and $599 (750GB) for the USB/ eSATA model; to $349 (320GB), $449 (500 GB) and $649 (750GB) for the dual FireWire 400 version.
For photographers who require even larger storage capacities, Seagate’s FreeAgent desktop drives are ideal for anyone needing a simple way to extend their storage facilities for photos, movies, music, games and documents. They are PC and Mac compatible with a USB 2.0 interface for easy connection. RRPs for FreeAgent Desktop units are $179 for 250GB, $219 for 320GB and $319 for the 500GB model.
