August 29, 2006: Seagate has released an external hard disk drive with 750GB capacity, which is ideal for storing digital image files.
Selling for $1009, the Barracuda 750GB Pushbutton Hard Drive is the first 3.5-inch external drive to use Seagate’s proprietary perpendicular recording technology. It offers an industry-leading data density of up to 188 Gigabytes per disk plus high reliability. Small enough to sit on a desk, the new drive measures 181 x 165 x 57.2 mm and weighs 1.2 kg and is PC and Mac compatible. It can be set up horizontally or vertically and comes with USB 2.0 and FireWire connections.
The new drive can storea 15,000 song music library, a 15,000 photo image library, a 50 hour home video collection, a 25 DVD movie collection, a collection of 50 computer games, and still have 300GB left over to back-up a desktop and laptop computer. It is supplied with BounceBack Express software from CMS for fast and easy data back-ups.
