February 5, 2011: Schneider-Kreuznach has joined the Micro Four Thirds System Standard Group and will work on a series of lenses for system cameras.
According to Dr. Josef Staub, CEO of the Schneider Group, “This standard has great potential. It simplifies and improves the options for compact digital cameras and offers an excellent opportunity for the industry as a whole, as well as for us as a lens manufacturer”. No details have been provided about specific products under development. However, the announcement is interesting as Schneider-Kreuznach has been a major supplier of lenses for Kodak and Samsung and Kodak appears to be pulling out of camera manufacture while Samsung is manufacturing more of its own lenses.
