November 9, 2007: This month sees the release of Sanyo’s HD1000 full high definition recording (1920×1080) digital movie camera, which claims to be the smallest and lightest of its type.
Weighing only 268 grams, the HD1000 fits into the palm of one hand, providing easy movie recording in any situation. The HD1000 boasts a 10x optical zoom lens plus digital image stabilisation. The audio recording system captures high quality stereo sound and includes a built in suppressor that reduces the amount of wind noise sensed by the microphone, making it ideal for outdoor use. Still images can be recorded at 4-megapixel resolution and simultaneous still and video recording is supported.
The camera also features an “Automatic Face Chaser Function” which allows it to

focus on up to 12 faces in a group. The HD1000 supports MPEG-4 and AVC/H.264 compression, for smaller and easier-to-handle file sizes. Up to 43 minutes of full HD recording can be held on a 4GB SDHC card. The camera’s “Xacti Library” function makes file saving and playback simple by enabling users to easily connect the USB cable from the camera’s docking station directly to an external hard disk drive without needing a computer. The Sanyo HD1000 will be available from Camera House stores in November 2007 at an RRP of $1299. Visit www.sanyo.com.au for more information.
