Has posted details of Sanyo Electric’s new ‘eneloop solar charger,’ a NiMH rechargeable battery charger equipped with a solar cell.
 November 5, 2006: Japanese tech news website, Tech-On! Has posted details of Sanyo Electric’s new “eneloop solar charger,” a NiMH rechargeable battery charger equipped with a solar cell. The recharger uses Sanyo’s HIT solar cell panel to collect energy and employs three Li-ion rechargeable batteries that can store electricity generated by the solar cell and use it to charge NiMH rechargeable batteries. If the Li-ion rechargeable batteries are charged for six days in fine autumn weather, four of Sanyo’s AA eneloop batteries can be fully charged in approximately 300 minutes. It takes between 75 and150 minutes to recharge one to two/three to four AAA batteries. A supplied USB terminalallows the recharger to operate other devices, such as a USB fed fan. The product measures 160 x 180 x 70 mm and weighs about 550 g. It is slated for launch in Japan on November 21. No details are available on when it might be available in other countries. |
