February 13, 2007: SanDisk has unveiled some new reduced-size memory card products that are targeted at users of the latest photo/video capable mobile phones.
The new microSD Multi SD Kit combines a microSD flash card with a miniSD adapter and a standard SD adapter, making it easy for consumers to select the card for a mobile phone. The kit supports all mobile phones with SD-based card slots, an estimated 87% of the cameraphone market. The kit makes it easy to enjoy music, photos, video clips and personal files on multiple devices. For example, a large video clip could be downloaded through a laptop computer and transferred to the microSD card using the kit’s standard SD adapter. The microSD card could then be placed in a phone with either a miniSD or microSD slot.
The kit is also compatible with other personal electronics, including digital cameras and MP3 players. It will be offered in three capacities: 512 MB, 1GB and 2GB. Retail release of the kit is planned for later in 2007, with the Australian release date and pricing yet to be confirmed. Product details can be found at www.sandisk.com.
SanDisk has also introduced a 4GB microSDHC card, the highest capacity yet produced in this format.

Capable of storing more than 2000 high-resolution cameraphone pictures, up to 8 hours of MPEG 4 video or more than 1000 digital songs, it is being offered to handset manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs). The new card is expected to allow them to plan rich media services for their customers who increasingly see their phone as their camera, video player, gaming system and music player. Retail release of the card is planned for later in 2007, with the Australian release date and pricing yet to be confirmed.
