SanDisk has released details of what it claims as the world’s highest capacity SD card and also unveiled a new fast microSD card.

 Designed to meet the demands of industry professionals, SanDisk’s 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I memory card is ideal for shooting 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160p) video, Full HD video (1920×1080) and high-speed burst mode photography. It increases SD card capacity by 1,000 times in just over a decade. The new card delivers write speeds up to 90 MB/second and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) recording speed for high resolution stutter-free 4K Ultra HD video clips. Transfer speeds up to 95 MB/second move data quickly for efficient post-production workflow.

The new 512GB cards are built for and tested in harsh conditions. They can withstand high temperatures and are waterproof, shockproof and x-ray resistant. The new 64GB SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I card, which is also unveiled today, claims to be the world’s fastest microSD UHS-I memory card. Designed for the latest smart-phones, this card can support 4K Ultra HD video recording and offers transfer speeds of up to 95MB/second. The card also features Class 10 and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) ratings, which are recommended by the SD Association for 4K Ultra HD video capture. The SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDHC/microSDXC UHS-I cards are available at all authorised retailers, from mid-October, in capacities of 32GB and 64GB and range in pricing from $89.00 to $179.00 ERP.
