Samsung Electronics Australia has released the WB550 digital camera, a step-up model from the Samsung WB500 model launched in March.

June 22, 2009: Samsung Electronics Australia has released the WB550 digital camera, a step-up model from the Samsung WB500 model launched in March.
Featuring a 12.2 megapixel sensor (6.13 x 4.6 mm size) and 24-240mm (35mm equivalent) ultra wide Schneider lens, the WB550 boasts a 3-inch LCD screen (230,000 pixels) and built-in HDMI port that lets users connect the camera to a HD TV set to view images or 720p video footage. Other features include Dual Image Stabilisation (Optical + Digital), Face Detection with Smile Shot and Blink Detection and a Smart Album function for storing and sharing digital photos. Smart Album automatically organises photos based on the date they were taken, their content, colour tones, and themes and supports image searches based on timelines, subject types of file types.

The new camera has a top sensitivity of ISO 3200 and includes an innovative Frame Guide feature that allows you to set up the angle of the shot then hand the camera to someone else to take the photo with you included. It also comes with a photo style selector containing a wide variety of digital effects.
