August 27, 2006: Local Samsung distributor, Adeal, will release three new Samsung digicams next month, featuring slimline metal bodies, high resolution CCD sensors and some innovative functions.

The EISA Award-winning NV10 (RRP $699) comes in a 18.5 mm thin black aluminium body with a blue ring on its extendable lens barrel. Offering 10.1-megapixel resolution plus a 230,000-pixel 2.5-inch wide-view LCD, the NV10 features the new Smart Touch user interface, which allows users to quickly navigate and set menu items or view pictures. It also comes with Samsung’s proprietary ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system and a new Photo Gallery function for viewing stored images. The NV10 has roughly 20 MB of internal memory plus an SD/MMC expansion slot. It can record TV quality MPEG-4 VGA (640×480) video clips at 30fps and is powered by a high capacity SBP-4442 rechargeable battery.


The NV3 (RRP $598.99) is a convergence device that combines a high resolution 7.2 mega-pixel digital camera with an MP3 player that using a special audio processing chip delivering 3D, Jazz, Rock, and other sound effects. It also operates as a Portable Multimedia Player that can be connected to an external speaker; a digital camcorder with MPEG-4 TVD (720×480) widescreen capture at 20 fps and VGA (640×480) at 30 fps. The NV3 can also be used as a voice recorder; a text viewer for reading text on the LCD; and as portable storage with 16 MB of built-in memory and external SD card. Encased in a 17.5 mm thick black stainless steel body with blue lens surround ring, it is scratch and shock resistant.


The 7.2-megapixel NV7 OPS (RRP $699) has been designed to give photographers more controls and higher functionality than most slimline cameras. Equipped with a 20.9mm thin black aluminium body with blue lens ring, it has a 7x optical zoom and uses the Samsung ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system. This is coupled with new OPS (Optical Picture Stabilization) technology for double anti-shake protection. Multi, Centre-weighted and Spot metering are supported and the camera comes with P, A, S and M exposure controls plus 11 scene modes. MPEG-4 VGA (640×480) movie clips can be recorded at 30 fps and users can capture 20 XGA (1024×768) pictures at 7 fps for motion analysis or up to 50 images for creating a GIF Animation.
