July 13, 2007: Three new models have been added to Samsung’s digicam line-up, featuring 8-megapixel resolution and multimedia capabilities.
Movie capture facilities are extensive. The L83T includes an i-Movie mode that uses the high compression MPEG4 file format and supports a top resolution of SVGA (800 x 592 pixels). Movie options include the ability to create cartoons and artistic pictures and a Successive Recording control that lets photographers pause while taking a movie and restart shooting later in the same file. Still image capture and editing meet the needs of the latest UCC (User Created Contents) trends. Both models have a 2.5-inch LCD, which automatically adjusts its brightness according to ambient lighting. Other features include ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction), a top ISO setting of 1600, MPEG4 movies at SVGA resolution and a variety of post-capture editing controls. The 8.2-megapixel S85 has a 5x optical zoom lens and supports up to 5x digital zoom. Designed for easy shooting, it combines ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) with a top ISO setting of 1600, Face Recognition AF & AE and Red-eye fix. Movie clips can be recorded at VGA (640 x 480 pixel) resolution. As yet, Samsung Australia has released no information on when (or whether) these cameras will go on sale locally.
