October 23, 2007: Samsung Electronics has released details of nine new digital still cameras which will be in stores well before the Christmas gift-giving season gets underway.
The i Series is the first of four new ranges for Samsung since taking the distribution of digital still cameras in-house last month. Combining several multimedia functions with digital photography, the new i7 and i85 models are targeted at tech-savvy, fashion-conscious buyers who want pocketable devices with innovative features. Both models include a World Travel Guide covering more than 30 countries and a Portable Media Player that can play MP3 music files, MP4 video files and support text viewing.

Both models have high-resolution 3-inch LCD screens and provide advanced in-camera editing support. The i7 model (RRP $469) has a 7.4-megapixel imager, 3x optical zoom lens and touch-screen interface, while the i85 (RRP $449) has 8.4-megapixel resolution, a 5x optical zoom lens and face recognition technology. Three new models have been added to the NV series range, the 8.2-megapixel NV8 (RRP $449), the 10.3-megapixel NV15 (RRP $549) and the 12.4-megapixel NV20 (RRP $649). Targeted at enthusiast photographers, these cameras have Schneider-Kreuznach lenses and Smart Touch LCD screens. Stylish brushed black metallic casings, Advanced Shake Reduction and Face Recognition capabilities make these models stand out, while NV series cameras also include large internal memories and an ISO equivalent of 3200 to allow for the best quality photographs in low light.

The L series range has been extended with four new models targeted at consumers with contemporary lifestyles. Two 7.4-megapixel models, the L730 (RRP $249) and the L74 W (RRP $429) offer a choice between a standard and wide (28mm equivalent) zoom lens, while two 8.3-megapixel models, the L830 (RRP $299) and the L83T (RRP $349) allow buyers to choose between a long exposure time of eight seconds and 15 seconds.
