January 25, 2008: Samsung will introduce a new DSLR camera, the GX-20, at the 2008 Photo Marketing Association Show, which opens in four days in Las Vegas.
Produced (as were previous DSLR models) in association with Pentax, the GX-20 is essentially the same as the Pentax K20D but has some minor styling and interface adjustments. It features a Samsung CMOS sensor with 14 megapixel resolution and can capture 14-bit RAW images and maintains supports a high ISO setting of 6400. The GX-20 also comes with improved sensor-based shake-reduction as well as a double dust-removal system. It sports a 2.7 inch Live View LCD screen, pentaprism viewfinder with 95% field-of-view coverage and a weather-resistant body.
Continuous shooting is supported at three frames/second for up to nine shots in raw format. JPEG recording is limited by available memory. The GX-20’s -point TTL, wide-area AF system gives users a choice of single or continuous autofocusing. The camera’s TTL open-aperture 16-segment metering system supports multi-segment, centre-weighted and spot metering.
We have not been supplied with product images or local released date and pricing information. However, overseas websites claim Samsung’s GX-20 is scheduled to begin shipping in March at a MSRP of US$1399.95.
