June 3, 2010: Samsung has chosen the PMA Digital Expo in Melbourne this weekend to launch two new digital imaging products: the EX1 and WB2000 digital cameras.
The 10-megapixel EX1 is the new flagship of the company’s compact digital camera range and features a full range of advanced features, including a 24mm (equivalent) Schneider Kreuznach f/1.8 lens with 3x optical zoom. It also boasts a new high-performance 1/1.7-inch (7.6 x 5.7 mm) CCD sensor plus Dual Image Stabilisation technology. The EX1’s 3-inch, swivelling AMOLED screen provides users with a higher contrast ratio, deeper blacks and more accurate colours under most lighting conditions. It also offers excellent power efficiency.

As well as supporting shutter-priority, aperture-priority and full manual shooting modes, the EX1 also provides raw file support. Novice users can benefit from Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology. Video clips can be recorded with VGA resolution at 30 frames/second using efficient H.264 compression. The EX1 will be available this month at an RRP of $599.
The new WB2000 (RRP $449) is designed for easy still picture and video shooting and combines a 10-megapixel still camera with 1080p Full HD video recording. It features a Schneider Kreuznach 5x optical zoom lens with a wide angle equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format and Dual Image Stabilisation technology.

For the first time, the WB2000 can simultaneously take HD video and high resolution still snaps. With a maximum video recording speed of 1,000 frames/second (fps) and a burst mode capable of capturing 10 full-size digital stills per second, the WB2000 provides high speed imaging functionality.
The new camera also comes with an Advanced Panorama Shot function with Object Tracking feature that allows photographers to track a specific object during the sweep of a panoramic shot. Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology is also included, along with support for raw file capture. The WB2000 goes on sale in Australia next month.
