Just before the opening of the PMA Trade Show in the USA, Samsung has announced four new compact digital cameras and five new lenses for the NX10 camera.

February 21, 2010: Just before the opening of the PMA Trade Show in the USA, Samsung has announced four new compact digital cameras and five new lenses for the NX10 camera.
Leading the digicam line-up is the EX1, which features a 7.5 x 5.7 mm, 10-megapixel sensor, Schneider Kreuznach, f/1.8, 3x optical zoom lens (24-72mm equivalent) and rotating, 3-inch AMOLED monitor screen. The EX1 offers A, S and M shooting modes and supports raw file capture. It provides dual (optical and digital) image stabilisation and Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 scene recognition technology. Applicable to both video recording (640×480 at 30fps / H.264) and for still photography, this function analyses the scene and automatically selects the appropriate camera settings. The EX1 measures 114.3 x 63.2 x 29.2 mm. Weight details have not been provided.

Samsung’s TL350 is a high-speed, 10-megapixel compact camera with 1080p, full-HD video recording and HDMI connectivity. Its CMOS sensor and DRIMeIII processor enable this camera to record 10M shots at up to 10 frames/second and supports high-speed movie recording at up to 1,000 fps. It sports a Schneider Kreuznach lens with 5x optical zoom (24-120mm equivalent) and a 3-inch AMOLED monitor. A combination of Smart and Manual controls enable users to choose between A, S and M shooting modes and Samsung’s Smart Auto 2 mode. The TL350 also offers a new Advanced Panorama Shot with Object Tracking and measures 100 x 59 x 30mm.

Samsung joins the durable and waterproof camera market with two models: the durable SL605 and the waterproof AQ100. Both feature 12-megapixel sensors, 5x optical zoom lenses and 2.7-inch TFT LCD monitors with 230,000-pixel resolution. The SL605 boasts a metal front cover, dust-proof button-pad and anti-scratch mask, which protects the monitor screen. It supports VGA video recording and measures 96.5 x 58.4 x 21.6 mm.

The AQ100 is waterproof to three metres and supports H.264 video recording at 1280 x 720p with a frame rate of 30fps. It offers the same dust and scratch protection as the SL605 model and includes Smart Auto (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology and Smart Filter lens and colour effects. The camera body measures 94 x 61 x 17,8 mm.

Samsung has also announced five new NX lenses, which will be released during 2010. These will complement the existing NX range, which consists of a standard zoom (18-55mm OIS f/3.5-5.6), tele zoom (50-200mm OIS f/4.0-5.6) and pancake lens (30mm f2.0). The new lenses comprise a second, non-stabilised standard zoom lens, the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, a compact 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens, a 20mm f/2.8 wide pancake lens, a 50-200mm OIS f/4.0-5.6 super-zoom lens and a 60mm f/2.7 macro lens.
