August 8, 2006: Replacing the popular RR630 is Ricoh’s new Caplio RR660 model, which features a 6.16-megapixel sensor and point-and-shoot ease of use.
The new model, which will sell for $299, boasts a larger 2.4-inch colour TFT-LCD monitor with 110,000 pixel resolution and a sharp 3x optical zoom lens plus 4x digital zoom. The Mode dial can be set to Auto, Program, Portrait, Landscape, Sports and Night Scene and movie capture is available at QVGA resolution with a frame rate of 20 frames/second. The lens can focus down to 5 cm for close-ups and the camera comes with 16MB of internal memory plus an SD card slot. The camera is powered by two AA batteries.
