Featuring a 14 megapixel, 6.17 x 4.55 mm CMOS sensor and f/2.8 fixed focal length lens with 160-degree coverage that is equivalent to 16.8mm in 35mm format, the WG-M1 includes a 1.5 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of 115,000 dots. JPEG images and Full HD video clips are stored on microSD or microSDHC memory cards. The new camera is waterproof to a depth of 10 metres, can withstand drops from up to 2 metres and is cold resistant to temperatures as low as -10 °C. Face Detection AF & AE function enables the camera to automatically optimise focus and set exposure on subjects’ faces.

The camera’s lightweight body has large control buttons for easy operation when users are wearing gloves. Users can review images and movie clips in real time during both still-image and movie shooting modes. A wide variety of mounting accessories is available and the camera is supplied with a carabiner-style carrying strap and adhesive mount for sticking it to smooth surfaces. The WG-M1 is listed for pre-ordering on Ricoh’s Pentax Web store at US$299.95. It is due for release next month.
