October 15, 2007: Ricoh’s new Caplio R7 is an 8.15-megapixel successor to the popular Caplio R6 model, which retains its predecessor’s wide zoom lens but adds a new generation Smooth Imaging Engine III processor and an extended feature set. The new image processor ensures low image noise up to ISO 800. Close-ups can be recorded down to 1 cm from the subject with the lens at the wide position and to 25cm with telemacro. The Adjust button on the R6 has been upgraded to make it easier to adjust exposure, compensation, white balance, ISO and other settings. Two personalised favourite settings can now be recalled via a button near the view-finder. An improved icon-driven menu makes it easier select from the camera’s long list of additional functions. Improvements have been made to the 2.5-inch LCD monitor, which boasts a resolution of 230,000 pixels, wider viewing angle and higher contrast. A new Auto Soft flash function prevents flash exposures from being washed-out at close range. Also new is the dual size recording mode that simultaneously produces high and low resolution images for easy web-posting. The R7 also offers a batch deletion system and a new file recovery function that saves images that were inadvertently deleted. The long-life rechargeable battery can cover approximately 300 shots per charge. The Caplio R7 also boasts 24MB of internal memory plus an SD expansion slot that can accommodate SDHC cards up to 4GB. The Caplio R7 will be available in silver, black and metallic burnt orange. Visit www.ricoh.com.au for product details. Phone 1300 363 741 for stockist information.
