Ricoh and Pentax have amalgamated to form Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh.

October 3, 2011: Ricoh and Pentax have amalgamated to form Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh.
The new company will continue to manufacture and sell optical equipment such as digital cameras, binoculars and lenses for security cameras. It seems the digital camera business will continue under the Pentax brand. However, current press released don’t mention any other significant changes and there has been no mention of whether Ricoh cameras will be included under the Pentax Ricoh Imaging umbrella or remain as a separate brand.
Current Pentax products include the K-mount DSLR system, the 645 medium format range, the Optio line-up of compact digicams and the recently released Pentax Q system. Ricoh’s camera line-up consists of the GXR system and Caplio digicams.
