July 13, 2006: The 2006 Queensland Premier’s Multicultural Photographic Awards will be held again this year with more than $25,000 in cash and prizes on offer. Open to professional and non-professional photographers, the awards celebrate the diversity of the “Sunshine State” and focus on multiculturalism in action. Photographers may enter work in two categories: the Open category and the School Student category. The Open category, which offers a winner’s prize or $15,000 and a Highly Commended prize of $5000, can be contested by all photographers. The School Student category, with first prize at $4000 and Highly Commended at $1000, is open only to primary and secondary school students. A People’s Choice Award, covering all entries, will be decided by popular vote. The winner will receive $1000 worth of photographic equipment.
