With its large f/1.6 aperture, the new Mitakon Speedmaster 80mm f/1.6 lens is ideal for use in low-light conditions and where photographers require good control over depth-of-field in shots. Its optical design contains 10 elements in six groups and includes four HRI (High Refractive Index) and one UD (Ultra-low dispersion) elements to minimise chromatic aberrations and meet the demands of medium format sensors. With a rounded nine-blade iris diaphragm, it can also create a pleasing bokeh effect, where subjects stand out against a soft, diffuse background. The new lens is robustly constructed with a high percentage of metal in its design. A convenient built-in retractable lens hood prevents stray light from entering the frame and causing unwanted flare or ghosting.

The Mitakon Speedmaster 80mm f/1.6 lens has a listed price of US$599 and is available to purchase through Zhong Yi Optics’ official web store as well as authorised resellers. Click here to visit the product page.
