Leading Chinese manufacturer, Zhong Yi Optics, has announced a new 90mm f/1.5 manual focus portrait lens that will be available in Leica M, Canon RF, Sony FE and Nikon Z mounts.

Covering the popular 90mm focal length, this fast prime lens enables great control of depth of field, producing distortion-free portraits with smooth bokeh and well-controlled colour artefacts. Use of a shallow depth of field enables a clear separation of the subject from the background, while the nine-bladed iris diaphragm renders out-of focus highlights without shape distortions.

The apochromatic optical design consists of nine elements in six groups and includes two extra-low dispersion elements to suppress chromatic aberrations and colour fringing. Chromatic aberrations (axial chromatic aberrations) are corrected with elements of special glass with anomalous partial dispersion. At night, the Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 can capture ambient lighting without introducing coma flare.

The new manual focus lens has a minimum focusing distance of 1.1 metres and an angle of view of 27 degrees. It accepts 67 mm filters, is 102 mm long and weighs 770 grams.  The lens is available in black only for the Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts and black or silver in the Leica M mount. The Leica M mount lens can also be used with autofocus with certain third-party adapters, such as the Megadap MTZ11 and Techart TZM-01/LM-EA7 for Nikon Z and Sony users, which will support AF-S, AF-C, AF-F and face/eye detection with the IBIS in the cameras.

The new Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 for M, RF, Z, FE mounts are available now on the company’s official website and other authorised resellers. The US retail price is $649 for Leica M mount, and $599 for Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony FE mounts.
