Zeiss has introduced two new manual focus lenses, the 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 with a new Otus ML line, which will be offered for Sony E, Canon RF and Nikon Z mount cameras.

The 50mm f/1.4 ML lens has an optical design consisting of 14 elements in 11 groups and including two aspherical and four special glass elements. The 85mm f/1.4 ML lens contains 15 elements in 11 groups, with two aspherical lenses and five elements made from special glass. Both lenses have 10-bladed iris diaphragms, which are controlled by de-clickable aperture rings. The 50mm lens can focus down to 50 cm which has a magnification ratio of 1:7.3. It is approximately 100 mm long and weight between 677 and 718 grams, depending on the lens mount. The 85mm lens can focus to 80 cm with a magnification ratio of 1:8.1. It is approximately 113 mm long and weighs between 1.033 and 1.061 kg.
