The new SanDisk SD Express cards were announced at the NAB trade show for broadcasters and content creators, which opened on 13 April. They deliver transfer speeds up to 4.4 times faster than Western Digital’s fastest SD UHS-I card and are backward compatible and positioned for both current use and future tech advancements. Similar speeds are also claimed for the new SanDisk microSD Express cards, which were announced at the same time. Both cards are offered in 128 GB and 256GB capacities.

Western Digital has also announced new high-capacity memory cards tailored for media and entertainment professionals, including the first 2TB UHS-I SDXC card on the market and the company’s fastest and first 2TB UHS-I microSD card. It has also unveiled a new 4TB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDUC UHS-I memory card, which is scheduled for release in 2025. This card will be the world’s first 4TB UHS-I SD card under the SDUC standard, which supports up to 128TB. Designed for use in cameras and laptops, it supports up to 104MB/s data transfers in the UHS104 (SDR104) mode and has minimal sequential write speeds of 30MB/s, which is fast enough for 8K video recording. The price of the new card is estimated to be in the vicinity of US$600.
