The new Laowa 7.5mm T2.9 Zero-D S35 Cine lens is the widest rectilinear lens in the Super35 line-up, covering a maximum angle of view of 123 degrees with minimal distortion. Its T2.9 maximum aperture provides scope for shooting in poorly-lit situations and provides great control over depth of field. Low distortion makes it suitable for shooting in restricted spaces as well as for capturing epic establishing shots. A minimum focus of 25 cm provides scope for creative close-up shooting.
The new optical design contains 16 elements in 10 groups, with two Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glasses and two aspherical glass elements to improve image sharpness and control chromatic aberration at both in-focus and out-of-focus areas to deliver impressive image quality. The relatively flat front element makes it possible to attach a 77mm screw-in filter directly. This makes filming easier for cinematographers as a heavy matte box is not required. Weighing only 610 grams and 80.7 mm in length, this lens is suitable for use with any stabilisation system, including handheld gimbals.
Laowa 7.5mm T2.9 Zero-D S35 Cine is currently available on Venus Optics’ official website (http://www.venuslens.net/) and authorised dealers. It is priced at USD 699. Click here to visit the product page.
