Venus Optics is launching a new 24mm Probe lens with a waterproof barrel, bug-eye perspective and wide-angle 2X magnification for a range of popular DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

Suitable for stills and video recording, the new Laowa 24mm T14 2x Periprobe lens is available with Arri PL, Canon EF, Canon R, Nikon F, Nikon Z, Sony E and L mount cameras. It features a waterproof, 90-degree periscope-like front tip for capturing formerly impossible shots and making complex setups like shooting close to the ground, more flexible. A clutch mechanism unlocks the orientation ring for perspective adjustment and different motion movements, while a 0.8 Mod gear allows users to install the focus gear for smooth perspective movements. The lens is also capable of 360-degree helix rotation and has an aperture range from T14 to T40 for greater depth of field at close distances. It also includes an LED ring light to provide additional lighting to compensate for the small aperture, along with a quarter-inch thread at the front of the barrel that allows users to attach accessories such as extra lighting or ‘magic arms’.

The 24mm T14 2x Periprobe is designed for full frame cameras. However, APS-C and Micro Four Thirds users can now pair up the lens with a specially designed 0.7x focal reducer, which maintains the perspective of the lens by reducing the crop from the APS-C and M43 sensors, while increasing the effective aperture to f/10. It is compatible with both Direct View Module and 90° Module support systems and comes with a white USB cable dimmer (with power adjustment), a black USB cable (without power adjustment), a protective case, front and rear caps for all modules and the main unit.

The 24mm T14 2x Periprobe is priced at US$2,299 for all mounts. The original probe pricing will be revised to US$1,449 (Standard) and US$1,599 (Cine) from today onwards. Click here for more information.
