The Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary is the world’s first mirrorless lens with an 18.8x zoom ratio. Roughly equivalent to 24-450mm in 35mm format, this portable lens covers everything from wide-angle for landscapes and interiors to super-telephoto for sports, wildlife and aviation. It will be available with mounts for Canon RF-S, Fujifilm XF-mount, L-mount, Sony E cameras and includes built-in stabilisation that is CIPA rated for up to 4.5 stops at the telephoto end or 6 stops at wide angle end. The optical design contains 20 elements in 14 groups and includes four aspherical, four SLD and one FLD elements. The nine-blade iris diaphragm covers apertures from f/3.5 to f/22 at 16mm, which are set through the camera’s interface.
Autofocusing is driven by an HLA linear motor and offers a minimum focus of 12 cm at the 70mm focal length, where 1:2 magnification is available. The lens sports a 67 mm front filter thread. It is 121.4 mm long with a diameter of 73.8 mm and a weight of 615 grams. The US MSRP is around $700.

The Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS | Sports is a revolutionary large-aperture ultra-telephoto zoom lens that delivers all the convenience and versatility of a zoom lens with the superior optical performance of an ultra-telephoto prime lens. Its optical design features 28 lens elements in 21 groups and includes six FLD and one SLD glass elements, anomalous dispersion glass, and high refractive index glass, providing excellent correction of various optical aberrations, such as chromatic aberration, throughout the entire zoom range. Despite its large aperture of F4, the Sigma 300-600mm F4 DG OS | Sports features a lightweight focus lens group driven by
a High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) for fast autofocusing with outstanding accuracy. The focus ring offers two different modes, selected via its setting switch: a Focus Preset Mode and a Power Focus Mode which allows for smooth focus shift during movie shooting as well as for focusing with minimal movement when shooting hand-held. Focusing speed can be changed in two steps depending on the angle at which the function ring is operated.
Built-in IS claims up to 5.5 stops of optical stabilisation at 600mm to make this lens a powerful choice for the challenges of sports, action and wildlife photography. Photographers have the choice between two Optical Stabilisation (OS) modes: Mode 1 is suitable for most still photography and video situations, while Mode 2 was specially designed for panning shots. Driven by Sigma’s Intelligent OS2 algorithm, this mode stabilises the image during horizontal, vertical, or diagonal movements, regardless of the camera’s orientation.
The lens barrel is made of magnesium alloy for the main parts and the hood is made of carbon, achieving both high robustness and light weight. In addition, the optical design with the center of gravity toward the camera greatly improves the weight balance, which tends to be front-heavy. The lens features a drop-in filter holder for standard ø40.5mm filters. In addition, Sigma has developed a new drop-in circular polarising filter and a variable ND filter (available separately) that can be adjusted by approximately 7-stops while dropped into the lens. In addition to weather-resistant sealing, the exterior of the lens body is coated with a thermal insulation paint that effectively suppresses heat absorption from sunlight. Available for Sony E-mount and Leica L-Mount, the lens is priced at US$5,999 and will be available through US retailers in April 2025. Click here to visit Sigma’s Australian website.
