The Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14–24 f/2.8 ASPH. lens represents the first time Leica has offered a focal length of 14 mm for the SL-System. The fast maximum aperture of F/2.8 remains constant across the entire zoom range, enabling users to capture impressive panoramas when shooting stills and video. The very wide diagonal viewing angle of up to 114 degrees normally leads to unavoidable distortions, although these are compensated by the elaborate optical construction of this lens. The optical design consists of 18 elements in 13 groups and includes three aspherical lenses to minimise chromatic aberrations and ensure the best image and video quality. The focal length range of 14 to 24 mm makes this versatile ultra wide-angle zoom lens for architecture and interior shots as well as close-to-the-action reportage and astro and landscape photography.

The recommended retail price (RRP) of the Leica Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14–24 f/2.8 ASPH. is AU$4,190 including GST.

With the Super-APO-Summicron-SL 21 f/2 ASPH., Leica introduces its first APO lens with a focal length of 21 mm. Featuring the same compact dimensions and E67 filter diameter as Leica’s APO-Summicron-SL 28, 35, 50, 75 and 90 mm lenses, the 21mm lens has an optical design that consists of  14 elements in 11 groups and includes three lenses with aspherical surfaces. A minimum focusing distance of only 21 cm can record subject details while the wide maximum aperture allows scope for differential focus control. The RRP of the Leica Super-APO-Summicron-SL 21 f/2 ASPH. is $8,890 including GST. Both lenses are available now at the Leica Stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Chadstone, the Leica Online Store and authorised dealers throughout Australia.
