Three new Tamron zoom lenses – the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2, 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD and 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD – are due for release on 28 October.

The new 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (Model A063) lens is designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, following the popular  28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036) lens and retaining its compact size. It features a new optical construction with 17 elements in 15 groups, optimised to be compatible with the latest, high-resolution mirrorless cameras. Two LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements provide control over optical aberrations and ensure high resolution across the zoom range. It also delivers the soft and attractive bokeh that characterises fast-aperture lenses.

Autofocusing is driven by a fast VXD linear motor focus mechanism that claims twice the speed of its predecessor.  The minimum focus of 17 cm is two centimetres closer than the previous lens and permits a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7 with a working distance of around 4.4cm. This lens is compatible with Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF functions and has an RRP of AU$1599.

Also designed for the Sony E-mount, the new 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD (Model A058) lens is ideal for travel photography. Boasting a fast maximum aperture of f/2 and a wide zoom range, it features the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism for high-speed and high-precision autofocus and incorporates a new design that includes four LD (Low Dispersion) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements. Key features of the new lens also include an enhanced grip, moisture-resistant construction, a fluorine coating on the front element and a hood with a locking mechanism for greater convenience. The RRP for this lens is AU$2299.

Designed for Fujifilm and Sony cropped-sensor cameras, the new Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD lens is the first 16.6x all-in-one zoom lens in this class. Covering 35mm-equivalent focal lengths from approximately 27mm to 450mm. this versatile lens suits a wide range of photographic genres. Its AF drive system uses Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtremetorque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism for superior quietness and agility, while proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) stabilisation allows it to be used in low-light conditions indoors and at night. The optical design contains 19 elements in 15 groups and includes three hybrid aspherical elements and four LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to suppress optical aberrations. Moisture-resistant construction, a fluorine coating on the front element and a zoom lock switch make it suitable for location shooting. Both versions of this lens will be priced at AU$1199 (RRP).
