Scheduled for release in November, 2019 Sony’s MRW-S3 smart USB Hub and SF-M series TOUGH UHS-II SD card range promise a fast, reliable and efficient workflow for professionals.

Sony has issued an advance notification of its launch in November of what it claims will be the ‘world’s  fastest smart Multifunction USB Hub’ which includes a UHS-II SD/microSD reader for efficient workflow. Designed to make ultra-high-speed, reliable and efficient workflow a reality for professionals, the MRW-S3 is a one-stop solution for fast and reliable data transfer. The USB Hub suypports USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatibility, up to 100W USB Power Delivery (USB PD) and HDMI output capability support. Built into the hub is a UHS-II SD/microSD card reader that can handle everything from high-resolution 2 RAW image files to 4K videos.  Data transfer speeds of up to 1000MB/second are available with the new hub, which includes USB power level indicators, which show if each port is ready to be connected at max power supply levels, eliminating worries of sudden disconnection due to poor power management. The new USB Hub has a durable aluminium body with a wave surface to prevent scratches, plus a ribbed grip to make handling easy, especially when connecting and disconnecting devices. The MRW-S3 weighs a mere 95 grams and comes with a detachable USB-C to USB-C cable for connecting to the host PC without cable damage. This cable also can be used for connecting to USB 3.1 Gen 2 devices or to a USB PD AC adapter up to 100W, thanks to its embedded eMarker.

Announced concurrently with the MRW-S3 is the SF-M TOUGH specification SD card, which is claimeds as the world’s toughest UHS-II SD card.  Shockproof with the highest-grade waterproof and dustproof levels, the new cards offer ultra-high-speed data transfer of up to 277MB/s read speed and 150MB/s write speed. When used with the MRW-S3 USB Hub, backups are swift and buffer times reduced, resulting in a highly optimised workflow. The SF-M TOUGH series will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities.
