Sigma has announced the first full-frame 28-45mm zoom lens for full-frame cameras that is equipped with a constant f/1.8 maximum aperture.

The new lens comes with mounts for Sony E-mount and L-Mount (SIGMA, Panasonic, Leica, and others) mirrorless camera systems and is designed to take advantage of the compact dimensions, in-camera corrections and improved technologies that characterise the latest cameras. The optical design of this lens consists of 18 elements in 15 groups and includes five SLD and three aspherical elements. A rounded 11-bladed iris diaphragm creates attractive bokeh at wide aperture settings and the lens focuses down to 30 cm, achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at 45mm. Sigma is targeting videographers with this new lens, although it has plenty to offer to stills shooters. Autofocusing is driven by a high-response linear actuator motor that is fast and near silent with minimal focus breathing. Internal zooming makes it easier to use on gimbals, while the aperture ring is both lockable and de-clickable and the lens has two customisable buttons. It accepts 82 mm diameter screw-in filters and is dust and splash-resistant.

The Sony E-mount version weighs 950 grams and is 153.4 mm in length, while the L-Mount version weighs 960 grams and is 151.4 mm long. Both lenses are supplied with a LH878-06 lens hood, front and rear caps and a protective carry case. Click here for more information.
