Nikon has issued a notice highlighting an issue associated with the Z8 lens mount that may affect some cameras that have already been sold.

In the affected cameras, the lens cannot be rotated to the locked position. The company has identified a range of Z 8 camera serial numbers in which the issue may occur and provided a website where camera owners can check to see if their camera is affected.
