Affinity Photo gains support for Canon’s CR3.RAW file format, improved lens correction tools and improved plugin support, including support for Nik Collection 2.5 by DxO. Affinity Photo’s Develop Persona adds manual lens correction override and enables users to take advantage of the newly added ‘recently used’ and ‘favourites’ lists. Lens correction of raw files coming from prime lenses has also been improved. Affinity Photo also adds new support for user-editable fields in image metadata, including the IPTC standard for copyright and other information. Users can also save and import metadata files (XMP), batch whole folders of images and tag with appropriate ownership information. Other updates include the ability any smart objects included in PSD files to be imported as embedded documents, making it easy to edit layers within any smart object, including on an iPad. MacOS users also gain a unified toolbar that enables more usable document space on all apps.
Updates to Affinity Publisher include a new, customisable Preflight panel and the ability to import InDesign IDML files, including all text styles, master pages, guides, pinned objects and more, directly into Affinity Publisher. Users can now save documents as template files (.aftemplate) for re-use and templates can be shared across all apps, including cloud storage (Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Box, etc.) and multiple devices. Users can also merge multiple documents into a single Affinity Publisher file and take advantage of text style mapping, index merging and master page control. Swapping master pages is now easier, with the ability to losslessly migrate edited content from any page to a new master page layout in a single click.
Users can also organise all image resources into a single folder location for sharing with others in a network and quickly access royalty free images in Affinity Designer through the brand-new Stock panel.
Affinity v1.8 apps are available to buy now for a one-off payment with no subscription. Existing users can download the updates free. Click here for more details and full update information.
