Panasonic’s latest L-Mount lens, the Lumix S 85mm f/1.8 will be available in December 2020 from leading photographic specialists at an RRP of AU$1099.

Compact and weighing only 355 grams, the new lens is ideal for portrait photography and is the first in a series of four f/1.8 S Series lenses designed for the L-Mount system. In addition to the four F1.8 large-aperture lenses, a 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens is also under development. These new lenses will all have the same positioning of controls for ease of use and a common barrel diameter that provides the convenience of using the same filters. The rugged dust- and splash-resistant design of these lenses makes them ideal for general use and able to withstand challenging environmental conditions.
The optical design of this lens consists of nine elements in eight groups and includes two 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements to suppress both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. The filter diameter is 67mm, while a 9-blade iris diaphragm closes to a circular aperture and creates attractive bokeh.
