Panasonic has officially announced the release date of the anticipated GH6 M4/3 mirrorless camera as 22 February, 2022 at midday Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
Originally promoted through a ‘development announcement in May 2021, the new flagship camera of the Lumix G Series was scheduled for release late last year but delayed as a result of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Like the GH5 and GH5 II before it, the GH6 is first and foremost a video camera that is able to take stills. The new camera is expected to feature a new 17.3 x 13.0 mm sensor and updated Venus Engine processor and will support 5.7K 60p video recording with 4:2:2 10-bit DCI 4K/60p output as well as 10-bit 4K 120p High Frame Rate (HFR) and Variable Frame Rate (VFR) for high resolution slow/quick motion video.
Other features previously revealed include the inclusion of full size HDMI and Serial Digital Interface (SDI) ports, the ability to operate in temperatures from -10° to 40° without any record limit and overheating, genlock and timecode over BNC connector, Ethernet for remote control and power supply and tally lights.
