The second lens in a planned series of four f/1.8 large-aperture lenses for L-Mount cameras, the new 50mm lens weighs approximately 300 grams and boasts a rugged dust/splash-resistant construction. Its optical design contains nine elements in eight groups and includes three aspherical lenses, one ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens. The use of three aspherical lenses optimises bokeh, while the ED lens suppresses chromatic aberration. The filter diameter is 67mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm. A special mechanism in the lens suppresses focus breathing, making it ideal for use when recording video.

Currently, 24mm and 35mm f/1.8 large-aperture lenses are also under development to further enhance the Lumix S Series lens lineup. The lens will be available in July 2021 from leading photographic specialists at an RRP of AU$699. Click here for more information.
