Panasonic has released details of its new Lumix G97 Micro Four Thirds interchangeable-lens camera and the latest addition to the popular TZ line of compact fixed-lens cameras, the TZ99.

The Lumix G97 retains the familiar design of the G95, which is replaces, and features a new 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor without a low-pass filter. Offered with the Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. Power OIS lens at an RRP of AU$1599, it boasts a combination of splash & dust resistance, high image quality and advanced video features that will appeal to photographers at all levels who want a compact, lightweight and mobile interchangeable lens system. Key features of the new camera include:
- Up to five stops of integrated shake resistance through the integrated 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 combination of body and lens stabilisation technology;
- High speed Auto Focus (0.07 sec) using DFD technology (240 fps);
- 4K 30p video recording with no time limit at normal ambient temperatures plus a pre-installed V-Log L function;
- A 2,360k-dot high speed OLED Live Viewfinder (0.74x magnification ratio at 35mm camera equivalent) plus the convenient 3-inch free-angle touch LCD screen (1,840k-dot resolution).

Panasonic’s new Lumix TZ99 is a pocketable compact camera with a powerful Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 30x zoom lens that ranges from a 35mm equivalent wide 24mm to a 720mm focal length. It features a 1/2.3-inch (8.8 x 6.6 mm) 20.3-megapixel High-Sensitivity MOS sensor plus a 5-axis HYBRID O.I.S. system that enables slow shutter speeds to be used with handheld shooting in low light levels. It also includes a e Level Shot function that automatically detects the horizontal line of the recording image and keeps it level during shooting, regardless of camera tilt, helping to achieve greater shooting stability. The camera’s 4K video recording capabilities include the following options for recording stills with 8K resolution:
- 4K Burst, which can continuously record 8MP images at 30 fps for up to 15 minutes, making it ideal for instances where you need a fast frame rate to capture a crucial moment.
- 4K Pre-Burst, which will record 8MP images at 30 fps one second prior to and one second after pressing the shutter button to give you 60 frames to choose from.
- 4K Burst (S/S, which records 4K video but allows you to playback your video, pause at the chosen moment, and use the shutter button to mark a chosen frame from the video and save it as a single 8MP frame.
- The video system is also used for Post Focus recording and Focus Stacking modes, where multiple frames are recorded to cover a range of focus settings.
