Nikon has released a new all-in-one zoom lens for its mirrorless camera system, the Nikkor Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR, which encompasses a 14.2x zoom ratio.

Designed as a one-lens solution for the Nikon Z series full-frame/FX-format mirrorless cameras, the new lens offers the highest zoom ratio in its class. With a minimum focusing distance of 20 cm at the 28mm position and 1.2 metres at 400mm, it can be used for a wide range of subjects from close-ups and landscapes to portraits to sports and wildlife. Built-in optical vibration reduction (VR) claims up to five stops of shake compensation, enabling users to obtain sharp images when shooting in low-light conditions and when using super-telephoto zoom. Up to 5.5 stops of correction is available with Synchro VR in compatible camera bodies.

Autofocusing is driven by a stepping motor (STM) for quick and precise autofocus and the lens is designed to minimise focus-breathing and support linear manual focus for precise control during video shooting. It is also dust and drip-resistant and the external design inherits the style of the 2nd-generation Z lenses. A compact square lens hood is bundled with the lens.

The Nikkor Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR lens has an RRP of AU$2199 and is available to pre-order now.  Click here for full details.
