With an overall weight of 1955 grams and a minimum focus of 1.3 metres the new lens is designed for a wide variety of uses, including sports, wildlife and aviation photography and works equally well for stills and video recording. Autofocusing is driven by stepping motors, which operate almost silently and provide a natural shift in focus positions and brightness levels. Users can shift from 180mm to 600mm with a 70-degree turn of the zoom ring, while the internal zoom mechanism maintains a similar centre of gravity when zooming, making it easier to track moving subjects. Internal stabilisation provides up to 5.5 stops of Vibration Reduction, allowing hand-held shooting in variable lighting. The maximum reproduction ratio is 0.25x at the 600mm focal length.
The Nikkor Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens has an RRP of AU$2,999. It features a dust-and-drip resistant design with an antifouling fluorine coat on the front element. It is compatible with Nikon’s 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters. Click here for more information on the new Nikkor Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens and other Nikon products.
