Nikon will release two new full frame lenses for its Z-series of mirrorless cameras in the next couple of months.

The Nikkor Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is an affordable and versatile full-frame 8.3x zoom lens spanning a wide-to-telephoto focal range.  With a lightweight design and drip and dust resistance, it is ideal for all kinds of outdoor photography and makes an excellent choice for travellers. High resolution, point-light clarity and minimal distortion with edge-to-edge sharpness are possible throughout its entire focal range. Its optical design includes two aspherical lens elements, two ED glass lens elements and one aspherical ED glass element plus Nikon’s ARNEO Coating to minimise ghosting and flare. A range of up to 300mm is possible when it is paired with a DX-format camera body, or when used in DX crop mode, providing users with flexibility for capturing wildlife and sports action. Integrated VR provides five stops of built-in optical vibration reduction, ensuring smooth subject tracking to keep sharp focus while zooming in video mode. The lens also works in tandem with IBIS in the Nikon Z 6 and Z 7.

Joining the S-line of high-performance lenses, the Nikkor Z 20mm f/1.8 S ultra-wide lens was designed to capture expansive imagery with increased detail, sharpness and shallow depth of field. Its’ 20mm focal length combines a bright f/1.8 constant aperture and point-light reproduction, making it ideal for astrophotography or capturing vast landscapes in challenging light. Its lightweight design features weather sealing to combat dust and moisture. Nine aperture blades ensure attractive bokeh, while the optical design includes, three ED lens elements and a Nano Crystal Coating. This lens also offers multimedia creators a unique perspective, plus a stepping motor for fast and quiet AF and suppressed focus breathing, achieving cinematic video capture.

No details have been provided about the Australian release dates or pricing for either of these lenses. However the US press release states the Nikkor Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR will be available in April 2020 for a suggested retail price (SRP) of US$899.95, and the Nikkor Z 20mm f/1.8 S will be available March 2020 for a suggested retail price (SRP) ofUS $1,049.95.
