Compact and lightweight with a total length of approximately 45.5 mm and weight of approximately 170 grams plus a fast f/2 maximum aperture, the new lens can be used for a wide variety of scenes from cityscapes to intimate portraits. Its 9-blade iris diaphragm produces attractive bokeh at wide aperture settings and provides scope for differential focusing. The new lens also boasts outstanding AF performance and dust- and drip-resistance. Adoption of an STM (stepping motor) enables quiet, fast and accurate AF control with effective focus-breathing compensation while maintaining a compact body size.
