The new Z mount, full-frame and FX-compatible lens is only 74.5 x 86.5 mm in size and weighs just 415 grams, while offering superior optical performance for everyday use. It is suitable for photographing landscapes, pets, flowers and portraits and users can take advantage of the shallow depth of field to create a good separation of subjects from their backgrounds, while also producing attractive bokeh. It has a minimum focus of 27 cm for added versatility and the fast maximum aperture enables it to be a reliable performer when shooting in low light or indoor environments. Users can combine low ISO settings with faster shutter speeds to reduce blurring when equipment is hand-held. The 35mm angle of view captures a natural perspective and it remains constant when adjusting the focus to suppress focus breathing. Autofocusing is driven by a stepping motor (STM) which boasts fast and quiet operation. The lens is also suitable for gimbal-mounted shooting.

No details are available on local pricing and no release date has been provided. However, the lens is available to pre-order on the Nikon Australia website.
