New Think Tank backpack for outdoor photographers

Designed to accommodate a professional ‘full-frame’ camera with an attached zoom lens plus up to four additional lenses and other items, the MindShift BackLight Elite 45L backpack features YKK AquaGuard zippers, robust lumbar padding, a hip-hugging waist belt, quick-dry back panel, and foam ridges for increased ventilation.  It is made from waterproof/tearproof sailcloth and has been tested for performance in challenging environments.  An aluminium internal frame supports the load and keeps it in place, while dedicated compartments are provided to fit up to a 17-inch laptop and a 10-inch tablet.  Front pockets provide up to 17 litres of space for carrying personal gear for a day’s outing, accommodating extra layers, a jacket, food, etc. A hydration reservoir (not included) can also be accommodated. External attachment points accommodate adventure equipment such as a static rope, set of axes, snowboard/skis, and of course, a tripod. The top-lid converts into a belt pack with the removable waist belt. Two  large water bottle pockets with cinch cords are also provided. A seam-sealed, brown coloured rain cover blends in with the environment.

This backpack meets  most international and U.S. carry-on requirements and the removable camera compartment has emergency shoulder straps to avoid issues at gate checks. It is available now from specialist photo retailers for an RRP of AU$675.

Released concurrently with the Backlight Elite 45 is Think Tank’s Stash Master 13L travel cube, which enables photographers to expand the photo gear capacity of any large backpack/roller/duffel, or increase personal gear space in the MindShift Backlight Elite 45L for multi-day excursions. Constructed from water-resistant fabric with DWR coating, it can accommodate a professional camera with a gripped body attached to a 70–200mm f/2.8 lens plus additional equipment. The high-density velex interior and reinforced vertical dividers are designed to enable users to customise the layout, while carry handles on the front and top make lifting easy and an optional shoulder strap enables it to be used as a stand-alone carry bag. A tuck-away front flap with removable foam panel provides easy access while the cube is in a backpack. The Stash Master 13L is on sale now at an RRP of AU$115.
