Introduced as the first macro lens for mirrorless cameras in the Art line of lenses, the 105mm f/2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art features a superior optical design that delivers high performance all shooting distances from extreme close-up to infinity. Constructed from 17 elements in 12 groups, it includes one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element, which reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy. The aberration correction places a particular focus on longitudinal chromatic aberration which can’t be handled by in-camera corrections. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to minimise flare and ghosting. The true macro design affords a life-size 1:1 maximum magnification at the minimum focusing distance of 29.5 cm.
Autofocusing is driven by an integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures fast and quiet autofocus performance, while an optimised AF algorithm produces smoother focusing performance. Full-time manual focus control is available by rotating the focus ring, even in AF mode. The lens includes a focus limiter switch with three selectable zones. The lens is also dust- and splash-proof. It is made in Sigma’s Aizu Factory in Japan and is scheduled for worldwide release in late October at an MSRP of $799 USD. Click here for more information.
