The new 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art lens covers a popular range of focal lengths and can be used for subjects ranging from landscapes to portraits. Designed for full-frame cameras with Sony E or Leica L mounts, its optical design has 18 elements in 13 groups and includes two FLD, one SLD and five aspherical elements. The first group uses a large 66.4 mm diameter element that is extremely difficult to produce – and only made at Sigma’s production base in Aizu, Japan. The lens accepts 82 mm diameter filters. The constant f/2.8 maximum aperture enables users to shoot with a shallow depth-of-field that will isolate a subject impressively against deep and beautiful bokeh, while the minimum focus distance of just 40 cm is constant across the entire zoom range. With a minimum aperture of f/22 and 12 diaphragm blades, this lens can produce complex sunstars. Nano Porous Coating and Super Multi-Layer Coating have been applied to suppress flare and ghosting.

Autofocusing is driven by a HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor, which is fast and near silent and has minimal focus breathing. This lens also has a dust- and splash-resistant structure and water- and oil-repellent coating, as well as a zoom lock switch, a de-clickable aperture ring, AFL buttons and the focus ring for easier handling including shooting with MF. The E mount lens is 159.9 mm long and weighs 990 grams, while the L mount version is 157.9 mm long with a weight of 995 grams. Both versions are supplied with front and end caps plus the LH878-07 lens hood and a soft case.

Sigma has also announced the release of its 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary wide-angle zoom lens for Canon’s RF-mount APS-C cameras. Originally announced in October 2023, this lens was first released concurrently for L-Mount, Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X Mount. Claimed as the world’s smallest and lightest f/2.8 zoom lens designed for APS-C format mirrorless systems, the new lens covers a zoom rang equivalent to 16mm-28.8mm when used with the Canon cameras. A control algorithm including AF drive and communication speed optimisation has been developed specifically for Canon RF Mount interchangeable lenses.
