Panasonic completes its popular f/1.8 prime lens series with the up-coming release of the compact, lightweight Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 (S-S18) lens in October.

Extending the current series of 85mm, 50mm, 35mm and 24mm lenses for the company’s full-frame mirrorless cameras, the 18mm f/1.8 weighs only 340 grams and is dust- and splash-resistant. The ultra-wide 18mm perspective is ideal for landscapes, astrophotography and architectural shots, while a minimum focusing distance of 18 cm, makes it usable for close-ups. The new lens is also compatible with the Lumix sensor drive at 240 fps.

The five-strong Lumix f/1.8 lens series has a common positioning of controls for ease of use and a common barrel diameter that provides the convenience of using the same filters across lenses. With a similar size, diameter and centre of gravity, it is easy for photographers to switch between them when an S Series camera is mounted on a gimbal.

The Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 (S-S18) lens will be available in late October from leading photographic specialists at an RRP of AU$1549. Click here for more information.
