Weighing only 150 grams and covering a 110-degree angle of view (equivalent to 15mm on a 35mm camera), the new lens is available with or without automatic aperture adjustment and also in standard and lightweight versions, the former weighing 170 grams. Its optical design consists of 13 elements in 9 groups and includes two glass aspherical elements plus three elements made from extra-low dispersion glass. A Frog Eye Coating is applied to the front surface. The addition of the control chip to the auto aperture version provides metadata in EXIF and allows aperture control from the camera. With the same optical structure as the standard version of 7.5mm f/2, the lens reduces the number of aperture blades from seven to five, which produces 10-points sunstars. The lens accepts 46 mm diameter filters.
The Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT is the third MFT lens assembled with a CPU chip and motor. following the Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D MFT and 50mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO lenses. The auto aperture version is available from the Venus Optics website at an RRP of US$549. Click here for more information.
