Canon Australia has announced two new mirrorless cameras – the EOS R50 and EOS R8, and two lenses – the RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM and RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.

The Canon EOS R50 is a 24.2 megapixel APS-C mirrorless camera with Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus II, UHD 4K 30p video oversampled from 6K, and 3” vari-angle touchscreen.

The Canon RF-S 55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM is a compact telephoto lens designed for EOS R’s APS-C cameras. The RF-S telephoto zoom (approx. 3.8x) lens covers a range equivalent to 88-336mm in full frame. It features new optics that use a PMo aspheric lens, allows close-up shooting at a maximum magnification of 0.28x, and uses OIS for an image stabilisation effect of 4.5 stops (CIPA standard) and 7 stops when used with IBIS.

The full frame Canon EOS R8 mirrorless camera has a 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, 6K oversampled 4K 60p video and 180fps Full HD recording, and 2.36 million dot EVF at up to 120fps maximum refresh rate. It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and subject detection for animals, vehicles and people.

The Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is a small lightweight RF zoom lens with 2x standard zoom lens covering a wide-angle field starting from 24mm, optical Image stabilisation up to 4.5 stops, and up to 7-stops with Coordinated control of OIS x IBIS.

The EOS R50 and RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM kits and lens are expected to be available in Australia late March 2023, and the EOS R8 and RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM from late April 2023. Pricing is to be confirmed.
