The release of this lens completes a trinity of f/2.8 zoom lenses for the SL-System, which already contains the Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14–24 f/2.8 ASPH. and the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–70 f/2.8 ASPH. The Extender L 2.0x extends the range further to a focal length of up to 400 mm. With a classic telephoto zoom focal length, the new Vario-Elmarit-SL 70–200 f/2.8 ASPH. lens contains 20 elements in 15 groups and includes three elements with aspherical surfaces to produce razor-sharp, detailed images right into the corners across all focal lengths. The new lens is weather-resistant and has an all-metal magnesium and aluminium barrel with Leica’s Hydrophobe Aqua-Dura coating. It accepts 82 mm filters and comes with a tripod clamp and detachable tripod shoe.
The new Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70–200 f/2.8 ASPH. has an RRP of AU$5,490, while the Leica Extender L 2.0x is priced at $1,650. Both products are now available at Leica Stores in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and Chadstone), the Leica Online Store and authorised dealers.
