Designed for photographers and content creators this lens creates what the company defines as a ‘dual fisheye effect’, with a 180-degree, circular field of view at 8mm and a more conventional rectangular fisheye effect at 15mm. The zoom capability allows users to switch between these effects without changing lenses, enhancing framing flexibility for photography and videography. As with many Laowa special-purpose lenses, the new lens requires manual focusing but it retains the fast, f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout its zoom range. It has a minimum focusing distance of just 16 cm, enabling users to capture exaggerated points of view and emulating ‘bug eye’ effects.
With an optical design containing 13 elements in nine groups and a nine-blade iris diaphragm, the Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 FF Zoom Fisheye lens has an approximate diameter of 94.5 mm and is roughly 76.4 mm (depending on the lens mount). It weighs only 650 grams and is available in Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Leica L mounts. Click here to visit the product page for more information.
