Venus Optics has released its latest ultra-macro lens, the Laowa 58mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO, which is designed to provide 2x life size magnification for four mirrorless mounts.

Available for Canon R, Nikon Z, Sony E and L-mount cameras, the new macro lens covers a 40.9-degree angle of view on full frame sensors. With a minimum focus of 18.5 mm, it is able to focus from 2x magnification to infinity. It can also be used as a portrait or walk-around lens or for product photography. This lens features a metal housing but weighs only 595 grams and is 117 mm long with a diameter of 74 mm, making it very portable. Its apochromatic (APO) design comprises 14 elements in 11 groups and includes three ED and three UHR (Ultra-High Refractive index) elements. The lens is engineered to suppress both longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration across in-focus and out-of-focus areas.
The iris diaphragm has 13 blades to create smooth and pleasing bokeh. Internal focusing means the barrel length remains constant and reduces the chance for dust particles getting into the lens.
